Ilocano Interpreter (Sacramento Area)

Overview This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities. The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Job site locations are mainly in Sacramento; available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters' qualifications. Responsibilities Provide professional interpreting services in healthcare settings, with fidelity to the original communication. Interpret orally between Ilocano and English in both directions as required. Work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Meet the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues and client sites to accommodate language service needs. Qualifications Fluency in Ilocano and English Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication Strong ability to interpret orally between Ilocano and English in both directions Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary Possession of a valid California license About Us Interlingva is a professional interpreting and translation agency providing services across the United States.
