Executive Director, Business Development - Early Phase

Fortrea seeks an Executive Director of Business Development to lead a team in identifying and expanding business opportunities across clinical research, pharma, and biotech sectors. This strategic role involves developing commercial strategy, achieving sales targets, managing key partnerships, and directing high-performing business development teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of business development strategy aligned with corporate growth and profitability goals
• Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities; achieve annual sales targets for assigned accounts
• Manage strategic account plans, partnerships, and complex contract negotiations with key clients
• Establish performance goals for business development team and oversee pipeline management and forecasting
• Coach, mentor, and develop business development directors to drive revenue growth and team excellence

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant academic qualification
• Minimum 10 years business development experience in clinical research, pharma, or biotech
• Minimum 9 years senior leadership experience in business development and strategic client management
• Minimum 6 years people-management or team-leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of drug discovery, development, and commercialization principles
• Demonstrated financial acumen, Salesforce expertise, and regulatory compliance understanding
• Proven ability to lead and influence at executive levels across matrixed organizations

Compensation: $215,000-$240,000 base
