Semi-Skilled Work Operating Automotive EquipmentThis is semi-skilled work operating automotive equipment with responsibility for towing functions for the Parking, Towing and Abandoned Vehicles Unit of the New Orleans Police Department. Work includes storing and securing crime scene vehicles and may involve hazardous situations when removing and impounding vehicles. Work may also include light or heavy physical labor when not operating equipment; and related work as required.Minimum QualificationsA valid class D (or higher) Louisiana driver's license. Applicants must have a good driving record for the last eighteen (18) months. Applicants who have outstanding traffic or parking violations, or one or more "Driving While Intoxicated Violations" within the last eighteen (18) months will not be eligible for employment in this classification. Applicants may be hired pending the results of a traffic violations check, but any applicant so hired and later found to be in violation of these requirements shall be dismissed during his/her probationary period. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify driver's license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification.
