Partnership & Access Liaison (PAL), Neurological Rare Disease/Retina Rare Disease
$136.3k - $253.1kF. Hoffmann-La Roche AG
Partnership & Access Liaison (PAL), Neurological Rare Disease/Retina Gene Therapy From the beginning, Genentech has been a team of highly dedicated, passionate individuals. We are a place where people are united around a single purpose and an ambitious vision. Together, we aspire to deliver ever better health outcomes for patients while lowering overall healthcare costs. Our goal is to compel the customer to act on behalf of their patients while showing great commitment to the rare disease community, whose support is key. Utilizing innovative methods to identify patients who may benefit from treatment, we must take a highly strategic approach to patient access while assisting patients and their caregivers to navigate the healthcare system. The Opportunity This Partnership & Access Liaison (PAL) role is a unique position dedicated to supporting patients and caregivers, with time split equally between two key therapeutic areas: Neurological Rare Disease and Gene Therapy for Inherited Retinal Dystrophy. For Retina, this role provides national coverage across the United States, serving as the primary non-clinical and logistical point of contact for patients from program enrollment through their treatment journey. For NRD, the PAL will be a "floater" in nature, covering patients in any given geography while geographical PALs are on leaves or sabbaticals. This role should expect fluidity in patient engagement. The PAL must be able to navigate the distinct responsibilities and compliance guidelines for each therapeutic area while collaborating with internal teams to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for patients and providers. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities for this role are separated by therapeutic area due to the different support models and patient needs and are subject to the business guidance for those therapeutic areas. Retina Gene Therapy Responsibilities (50%) Patient Logistical Coordination: Serve as the main, non-clinical point of contact for patients and their families after enrollment. Work closely with patients to navigate the steps required to gain access to therapy after a treatment decision has been made. Coordinate all logistical needs, including assessing and offering solutions for travel, lodging, and meals for the patient and caregivers. Guide patients in selecting appropriate treatment centers. Process & Reimbursement Facilitation: Act as a facilitator and information source for the Benefits Investigation (BI) and Prior Authorization (PA) process, which is driven by the Treatment Center (TC). Educate patients and TC staff on payer policies, procedures, and available, approved resources. Education & Stakeholder Collaboration: Provide education on the treatment process and all available Spark services. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Account Executives) and external stakeholders (e.g., TCs, physicians) to resolve patient access barriers. NRD Responsibilities (50%) Patient Education & Support: Provide on-label education to patients, caregivers, and the community on or NRD product, including its clinical profile, dosing, and administration. Proactively communicate Genentech-specific reimbursement programs, policies, and resources. Patient Access and Reimbursement: Maintain regular contact with patients to identify and resolve on-label insurance, pharmacy, and other reimbursement challenges. Provide expert, patient-specific reimbursement navigation and empower customers to resolve access issues. Educate customers and partners on national, regional, and local payer coverage policies. Advocacy and Community Engagement: Engage with and support local advocacy chapters through programming, events, and sponsorships. Establish Genentech as a trusted partner in the neurology rare disease community. General Responsibilities (Applicable to both roles) Compliance: Adhere strictly to all laws, company policies (including the Luxturna and NRD Business Guidance), HIPAA guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Collaboration: Partner effectively with internal field-facing roles, home office teams, and external stakeholders. Administrative Excellence: Track all patient interactions using approved tools, attend all team meetings, and meet all administrative expectations. Professional Development: Obtain and maintain full proficiency in disease state and product knowledge for both therapeutic areas. Who you are Bachelor’s Degree required. Clinical experience with patients is required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and caregivers in both languages. 5+ years of field experience in patient services, reimbursement, or pharmaceuticals. Direct experience supporting patients is required, with a proven ability to connect empathetically with individuals and families facing difficult diagnoses. Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA, FDA, and Internal compliance guidelines. Ability to effectively collaborate with case managers and account managers, handle difficult patient cases, and respond promptly to prevent treatment lapses. Preferred Qualifications Experience with managed care, rare/orphan diseases, and institutional/account management. An RN, related clinical experience, or case management experience is strongly preferred. Deep understanding of the payer landscape and pharmaceutical reimbursement processes. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to travel up to 60% of the time. A valid driver’s license is required. Travel and Vehicle Requirements Relocation Benefits are not available for this role. Overnight travel may be required. This position requires significant driving of either a company-provided or personal vehicle as well as prolonged periods of sitting, both of which are part of the essential duties and responsibilities of the role. This position will require approximately 30-50% travel, including some overnights and weekends. As a result, Genentech, Inc. (Company) from time to time will check your motor vehicle record for purposes of determining your eligibility for driving a Company vehicle or driving any vehicle on Company business. Salary and Incentives The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of NY, NJ, MA, CT, PA, RI, MD, DE, D.C, VA, NC, SC, GA, or FL is $136,300.00 – $253,100.00.
