The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to help drive the evolution of Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO). In this backend role, you will play a key part in designing and delivering the next generation of features that empower our customers to create exceptional experiences across billions of interactions a day! As part of the AJO data team, you'll build high throughput, enterprise-grade solutions with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and innovation.

Journey Optimizer is an application built on Adobe Experience Platform that enables real-time orchestration and delivery of personalized digital experiences across any channel. It empowers brands to engage customers in the moments that matter by combining unified customer profiles, intelligent decisioning, and dynamic content to deliver contextually relevant experiences at scale.

What You'll Do

• Technical Ownership: Design, implement, and maintain backend components of AJO, witha focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Innovation & Impact: Help drive the agentic evolution of our platform and create differentiated value through the effective application of AI in solving customer needs.

• Engineering Excellence: Apply strong engineering practices including code quality, automated testing, observability, and CI/CD

• Design and Operate at Scale: Lead in the architecture and operation of large-scale,globally distributed systems. Ensure high availability and low latency in enterpriseenvironments.

• Mentorship & Collaboration: Contribute to design discussions, collaborate across teams, and support the growth of junior engineers.

• Customer Focus: Work closely with product managers and customer-facing teams tounderstand user needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  

What You Need To Succeed

• Education: BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.

• Experience: 6+ years of experience building, testing and operating complex softwaresystems, focused on the backend. Experience with AI/ML systems and enterprisesoftware development is a strong plus.

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of modern software development practices,distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures. Proficiency in Scala, Java, with expertknowledge of streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka), relational and NoSQLdatabases, caching frameworks, microservices, and containerizedenvironments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and a data-driven attitude. Ability to breakdown complex problems and deliver elegant, maintainable solutions.

• Operational Mentality: Demonstrated skill and enthusiasm for rigorous quality practices, observability, and incident response in production environments. Sense ofurgency in maintaining operational excellence.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearlyarticulate technical concepts and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technicalpartners.

• Customer Empathy: A strong sense of ownership and a passion for building productsthat delight users.

• Industry Exposure: Experience building enterprise B2B or B2C products in the marketing automation, analytics, experimentation, decisioning, or personalization spaceis a plus.

Expected Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $139,000 -- $257,550 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. In California, the pay range for this position is $177,900 - $257,550

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
