About the Position

Job Title: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years LDRP experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM Must-Have: Labor management, circulate cesarean sections, pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management Description: Licensed for 457 beds. Level 3 Trauma center. Stroke center of Excellence. Bariatric center of Excellence. Chest Pain Center. Client Fetal Medicine Referral Center. Unit has 13 labor beds and 5 triage rooms. Average census of 9-10 patients daily. Patient types include high risk antepartum, labor, and immediate postpartum. Active labor cases, triage, pre-eclampsia, and other hypertension disorders of pregnancy are common. Typically, 60-65 deliveries per month. Patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2 for laboring patients. A secretary is available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Scrub Techs assist in procedures. OB Mentors and Charge nurses are available 24/7. In-hospital support from phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists is provided. OB physicians and anesthesia/CRNA teams are available. Telemetry monitoring is conducted at the bedside and nurses' station. EMR used is Epic. IV pump used is Alaris. Medication dispensing system is Omnicell. Monitors used are GE. Unit-specific equipment includes Monica Novii and Neptune. Float within region and scope of practice may be required. Travelers will be compensated for travel time if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotation is every other week. No call is required for travelers. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Request time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Schedule cycles every 4 weeks. Scrub color is hospital-provided green OR scrubs. Unit culture promotes hardworking team players.
