Pharmacist

The Pharmacist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by collaborating with the Director of Pharmacy and adhering to established procedures to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies based on written prescriptions from physicians. This position is integral in maintaining safe and effective medication therapy for patients across various age groups, from adults to the geriatric population.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with medical staff to consult on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
• Interpret medication orders and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Supervise technical support staff and provide guidance to pharmacy personnel.
• Engage in clinical, quality management, and education programs.
• Participate in performance improvement plans within the organization.
• Maintain accurate patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy.
• Monitor and clarify medication orders with physicians as necessary.
• Provide drug information and support to clinical and medical staff through in-service education.
• Generate required reports, including IV Production reports.
• Maintain security of the pharmacy and controlled substances.

Qualifications:

• Must possess an active pharmacy license.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• A minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
• Proficient in handling a varied patient population, ensuring tailored and safe medication management.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely medication delivery, while also maintaining high standards of aseptic techniques and safety measures.

Shifts will typically consist of 5 shifts per week, including weekends, necessitating flexibility and commitment to patient care.
