Sr. / Prin. Mammography Tech, Per Diem (Sign on bonus eligible)

CRT Licensed Mammography Technologist performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging in the UCSF campus locations. Responsible for producing ACR quality images, coordinating patient care, ensuring clinical data accuracy in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), maintaining quality control records, and participating in performance improvement activities. Per diem coverage: 8‑hour shifts Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Follow the Medical Center’s values of Everyday PRIDE and use the AIDET acronym when interacting with patients. Produce ACR quality images according to established departmental protocols, including technique, views, positioning, proper labeling, and patient identification. Prepare the room, equipment, and contrast media as needed; troubleshoot equipment failures; document and report issues. Prepare and review patient exams, verify requisitions through RIS or electronic order entry systems, and confirm patient identification. Perform daily quality assurance procedures in accordance with MQSA accreditation compliance. Work safely with ancillary and procedural staff, participate in the timeout procedure, and maintain a safe environment. Participate in orientation, training, and supervision of assigned staff, students, residents, and faculty; provide mentorship as necessary. Maintain constant communication with patients and fellow staff throughout the exam. Present a professional demeanor and positive attitude to all patients, co‑workers, physicians, and departments. Perform breast imaging procedures and quality control tasks under supervision. Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures, including safety policies, infection control, hand hygiene, dress code, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Standards of Ethics. Follow established radiation safety guidelines and patient shielding practices. Support department attendance and punctuality standards, and remain compliant with union and contract obligations. Maintain correct clinical data and record all exams in the radiology and mammography computer systems; comply with HIPAA policies. Demonstrate ability to prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Attend staff development activities, required hospital training, in‑services, and professional meetings to stay current in the field; participate in cross‑training when necessary. Participate in related performance‑improvement projects for the department and hospital. Monitor supplies, check expiration dates, adhere to productivity monitors, verify billing codes, and identify cost‑containing opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role, assist other departments when necessary, and participate in training and mentoring of students and new hires. Qualifications Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of Mammography experience for a Principal level; minimum 3 years for a Senior level. Graduate of a JCERT radiology technology training program. Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts, and coverage for weekends and holidays. Willingness to work at any UCSF Medical Center location. CRT (M) Mammography Certification. CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification. BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification. Completed at least 40 documented hours of mammography‑specific training if certified after April 27 1999. Completed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24‑month calendar). Completed at least 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in Mammography in the last 36 months (rolling 36‑month calendar). Completed MQSA‑approved 8 hours each of Digital and 3D Tomosynthesis training. Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms. Preferred Qualifications ARRT (R) (M) certification.
