Deputy Sheriff Job Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Martinsburg, WV Department: Sheriff's Office If selected to move forward in the hiring process, applicants will be contacted via email and will be required to submit the requested documentation, including the Applicant's Statement. Salary $57,466 with no prior experience $59,187 upon graduation from the West Virginia State Police Academy Up to $67,668 for pre-certified officers (based on years of service) Minimum Qualifications Applicants must: Be a U.S. Citizen Be at least 18 years of age (per West Virginia Code) Possess a high school diploma or equivalent Be in excellent physical health, maintaining appropriate weight in proportion to height Successfully pass all Civil Service Commission examinations Successfully complete a physical agility test administered by the Civil Service Commission Submit additional evaluations throughout the hiring process, including psychological and polygraph examinations Meet all fitness standards required for police academy admission Successfully pass a medical examination prior to employment Attend and complete all required training programs Be willing to accept a variety of assignments, including but not limited to K-9 Deputy, Court Security Officer, School Resource Officer, and other duties assigned by the Sheriff of Berkeley County Additional Benefits Deputies may be eligible for a take-home vehicle if they reside within a 25-mile radius of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, subject to the discretion and approval of the Sheriff.
