The successful candidate will lead business development and project delivery for municipal infrastructure projects in their local geography, supported by Apex's national resources and multidisciplinary teams.The role begins as remote with the opportunity to establish and lead a new office in your target market.If you are an entrepreneurial leader with a track record of building markets, winning work, and delivering impactful infrastructure projects, we invite you to join Apex and help shape the next chapter of our Infrastructure growth.Key Responsibilities:Market Growth & LeadershipLead the growth of Apex's infrastructure services within your designated local market.Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand relationships with municipal, utility, and public-sector clients.Leverage existing client relationships and your market insight to establish Apex as a trusted regional partner.Collaborate with Divisional and Regional Leadership to align local efforts with Apex's broader infrastructure strategy.Client Development & Relationship ManagementServe as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients, understanding their infrastructure priorities and funding mechanisms.Identify and pursue new project opportunities, lead proposal development, and manage interview and negotiation processes.Drive cross-selling of Apex's complementary environmental, construction, and compliance services.Represent Apex at professional associations, technical committees, and industry conferences.Project Delivery & Fiscal OversightOversee delivery of municipal infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment, distribution/collection systems, stormwater management, transportation or civil engineering.Ensure technical excellence, quality control, and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and QA/QC oversight to project teams.Manage project performance, including backlog, utilization, and profitability metrics.Team Building & MentorshipRecruit, mentor, and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff to grow Apex's local presence.Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on client satisfaction and technical excellence.What we're looking for:BS or MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relevant engineering discipline15+ years of experience in municipal infrastructureRegistered Professional Engineer preferred in CTDemonstrated success in developing new markets, securing key municipal clients, and achieving financial growth targetsStrong record of mentoring, team development, and leading cross-discipline project teamsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with clients in a forward-thinking manner to drive growth and sustained performance through effective leadershipExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDesire to manage and mentor all levels of staffWhy you'll love working for us:Company-subsidized medical and dental.Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability.401k match, tuition assistance, and more.Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.Performance-based bonuses or other incentives.Working with the best and brightest in the industry.2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.Apex Job Title: Principal EngineerAnnual Expected Pay Range$195,000 — $220,000 USDWe believe in equality for all and celebrate the diversity and differences of our employees, customers, and communities.
