Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS required; OCN required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with patient ratios of 1:6 - Charting system experience required Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical Oncology. The candidate will work primarily with adult to geriatric patients. The role includes managing oncology and hematology diagnoses from diagnosis to death. The nurse will oversee DNR/CC situations and oncologic emergencies. Occasional off-service duties may be required. Knowledge of chemotherapy precautions, morphine drips, dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps is necessary. The average daily patient census is 15, with a total of 19 beds on the unit. Experience with accessing and managing ports, administering blood and blood products, and chemotherapy is essential. Candidates should be familiar with neutropenic precautions and inpatient oncology. Compliance with required certifications is necessary if performing chemotherapy at an elevated billing rate. Interdisciplinary support includes teams for IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The nurse is expected to work every other weekend and might float within the facility as needed. Consideration should be given to working during major holidays as required. Full compliance with onboarding tasks is mandatory to begin the position on time.
