As we continue to grow, we only look for the best in the industry.Job Responsibilities:Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo to and from trucksCheck freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions and documents as appropriate when accepting or delivering cargoIssue appropriate warehouse receipt or collect signed copy of delivery receiptEnsure that cargo has a proper release issued by office personnel controlling the cargo before cargo is delivered to consignee or agentOperate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklift, aircraft pallets and pallet jacksBreak down cargo from import flights, sort as required, check freight against manifest and store in proper manner and location in warehouseBuild up cargo for export flights, following instructions of supervisor or person directing the buildup of the freightKeep inventory of on hand freight, warehouse supplies, airline equipment and containersMaintain security of the cargo and company's equipment. Observe that cargo has not been tampered with or that pilferage has taken place. Report incidents to supervisor as neededMaintain work area in clean condition, reporting damaged or broken equipment as neededAccept related assignments from lead agents, supervisors or managementComplete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into company's information system as requiredFollow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are always operating in a safe and responsible mannerComplete all training when required by company, airport governing authority, or customer when requiredBe on time, be prepared, and be safe. Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidaysSafety, Security and Compliance:Take reasonable care for the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions while at workCooperate with their manager/supervisor to allow them to perform or comply with any legal requirements imposed on the companyNot intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided by the company in the interests of health, wellbeing, safety, security or welfare reasonsInform their manager/supervisor of any work situation, equipment, or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health, wellbeing, safety, and securityReport any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager/supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in company and carrier Safety and Security proceduresCarry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or proceduresFully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policiesAttend training courses as may be required by AGIPhysical Requirements:This job requires physical stamina and strength – Material Handlers must be able to lift/carry/push/pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfacesMust be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periodsMust be able to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authoritiesMust be able to work around jet and machinery noisesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Good Communication Skills: Material Handlers must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of trucks, equipment, and cargoBasic math skills: Material Handlers may be required to calculate piece count, weight and dimensionsComputer skills: Material Handlers may be required to use computer systems to track cargoProblem-solving skills: Material Handlers may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloadingTime management skills: Material Handlers must be able to manage their time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environmentQualifications:Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalentPossess a valid driver's license with a clean driving recordIf work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
