The role includes direct clinical care, clinical supervision to team members and interns, development and improvement of group curriculum, and support of overall care coordination. The Lead Therapist assesses therapeutic needs, develops treatment plans, acts as primary point of contact for clients and families, and coordinates care with referral sources and internal resources. Position Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities Assess therapeutic needs of clients and determine appropriate interventions. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions. Coordinate clinical program schedules with Executive Director. Oversee weekly group assignments and topics. Complete psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, session notes, discharge plans, and other required reports. Support clinical team with documentation and utilization review deadlines. Provide clinical coverage in the absence of Executive Director, including precertification, urgent clinical decisions, and team meetings. Provide mentorship and supervision to associate clinicians and interns. Conduct weekly individual and family therapy sessions for assigned caseload. Monitor behavioral interventions and provide skills coaching as needed. Conduct specialized groups as assigned; supervise or co‑lead groups with staff or interns. Maintain therapeutic relationships, encourage appropriate behaviors, set limits, and maintain boundaries. Utilize effective verbal crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques, involving other staff as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to coordinate client care from admission through discharge. Co‑facilitate weekly clinical, consultation, and business meetings and present assigned cases. Complete documentation timely and accurately, reflecting client clinical presentation and behaviors. Communicate client progress with referral source, family, or guardian as appropriate. Build relationships with new referents and collaborate with existing referents. Welcome clients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers professionally and respectfully. Additional Responsibilities Prepare reports that analyze treatment and results data and trends. Update job knowledge through education, reading, networking, and professional organization participation. Operate within facility Code of Ethics and corporate compliance guidelines. Maintain punctuality, notify supervisor promptly when absent, and adapt to facility changes. Adhere to company policy regarding ethics, conduct, conflicts of interest, and policies. Maintain a positive attitude and act as a team player. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications What We’re Seeking Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Psychology. Clinical license of LCSW, LPC or LMFT in good standing in Virginia for a minimum of 2 years. Minimum 4 years’ experience working with clients who have primary mental health diagnoses. Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Clearance of criminal background, TB test, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
