Respiratory Therapist-Certified - OALH Respiratory - PRN

Job Overview This Respiratory Therapist role provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The position involves monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy, managing artificial ventilation, drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivering intermittent therapy, and assisting with airway changes, all as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure. Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient. Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures. Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patient served in assigned area. Maintain professional certifications and stay up-to-date with technical procedures. Attend staff meetings. Other related duties as required. Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards. Physical and Environmental Demands This role involves very heavy work with frequent lifting of objects exceeding 20 pounds, exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue, and potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste as may arise in a healthcare setting. Qualifications Education Required: Associate's Degree. Work Experience Required: None. Certifications Required: Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice; Certified Respiratory Therapist (National Board of Respiratory Care); Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (for NICU); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard; effective verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills.
