Associate Principal Atchison Middle School Job Description Purpose: The Associate Principal assists the Principal in providing professional leadership for organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating a creative school program. To accomplish these tasks, the Associate Principal works closely with the community, staff, and District administration.

- Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution in education, educational leadership, or a related field
- Valid Kansas Teaching Certification with building-level leadership/administrator endorsements.
- Demonstrates written communications, oral presentation, and program planning and organization skills.
- Experience working with the public and communicational media in providing information and interpreting programs.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints.
- Able to read, analyze, process, and interpret data independently.
- Hold a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made).
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful building-level administrator or equivalent experience.
- Successful experience working with K-12 student behaviors in special education and general education.
- Knowledge of Kansas Department of Education Guidelines related to student attendance, discipline, and social-emotional learning.
- Ability to work with principal, building and district staff, students, and parents on strategies that assist in continuously improving student achievement and instruction.
- Ability to assist in providing professional leadership for organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating a creative school program.
- Ability to assist in establishing an optimal learning environment within the school.
- Ability to ensure all school programs and activities conform to District guidelines.
- Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
- Ability to communicate, work effectively, and constructively with members of the school district and community.
- Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned.
- Work to implement the vision, mission, and goals of the District.
- Ability to work with a variety of technology/computer systems.
- Ability to supervise, direct, motivate, and correct employees' job performance.
- Ability to model commitment and dedication to work.
- Ability to work independently, without supervision, and complete work in an efficient manner.
- Act in accordance with district policies as well as state and federal regulations.
- Assists in leading a high standard implementation process, including curriculum development, standard assessment, recordkeeping, and reporting in alignment with all federal, state, and district policies/procedures.
- Supervision of before and afterschool activities/athletics events, both on and off site.
- Manages field trips, out-of-state trips, and related transportation requests.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal and/or district administration
- Regular attendance at work.
- Ability to serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
- Ability to assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Ability to provide effective discipline and guidance of assigned students/grade levels.
- Ability to keep current on changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing concerns of mutual interest with others in the field.
- Ability to direct extracurricular activities scheduled during the day and/or in the evening.
- Ability to implement and follow all District policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen, and to print material with or without vision aids.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in standard classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
- Requires physical exertion to manually lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 25 pounds.
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
