The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop accurate cost estimates for new and existing manufacturing projects.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, and production teams to gather necessary information for bids.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
• Present detailed cost breakdowns and proposals to management and clients.
• Identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities within projects.
• Maintain and update a database of historical cost data for improved estimation accuracy.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and labor costs.
• Proficiency in estimating software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems specific to manufacturing
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
• Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, CAPM)
• Proficiency in a second language relevant to the company's supply chain or customer base
