Project Executive – Power

Role Summary The Project Executive provides overall executive leadership for project acquisition, contract negotiations, client relations, budget management, and trade partner strategy across Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle (CCGT), Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC), Cogeneration (CHP), and Balance of Plant (BOP) installations. This role oversees managers and technical staff across multiple departments, driving business growth and major project execution excellence. The Project Executive serves as the direct executive point of contact for energy clients, power plant owners, and EPC partners while leading compliance with NERC/OSHA standards and Yates safety and quality protocols.

Autonomy & Decision-Making Operates with executive-level autonomy, leading strategic EPC contract negotiations, complex power market project acquisitions, financial P&L oversight, and resource allocation across major power plant installation divisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Executive Leadership & Team Recruitment: Recruits, assembles, and builds high-performing project teams skilled in heavy civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical power plant delivery. Supervises managers and multi-departmental staff to exceed project milestones.
• Project Acquisition & Business Growth: Generates leads across power plant developers, energy clients, and industrial facilities, leads complex EPC/Design-Build RFP processes, and participates in executive contract negotiations.
• Pre-Construction & Project Start-Up: Works with pre-construction teams to establish interconnect timelines, long-lead equipment procurement strategies (turbines, boilers, transformers), and baseline schedules, leading key turnover meetings.
• Operations & P&L Governance: Maintains full accountability for Accounts Receivable, cash flow forecasting, and P&L across power generation portfolios. Regularly visits site locations during Simple Cycle, CCGT, ACC, CHP, and BOP installations to monitor production, environmental compliance, and safety.
• Client & Executive Relationship Management: Serves as the direct executive point of contact for plant owners, power executives, and engineering partners, building long-term alliances to capture future energy projects.
• Lean & Safety Strategy: Champions high-voltage and heavy industrial safety programs and leads implementation of Lean construction principles, off-site pre-assembly, and baseline schedule maintenance across remote and complex site footprints.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 15+ years of overall general construction experience, 10+years in construction management leadership with direct oversight of multiple medium-to-large power generation projects ($100M+), specifically including Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle (CCGT), Air-Cooled Condensers (ACC), Cogeneration (CHP), or Balance of Plant (BOP) scope.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Skills & Alignment: Proficient in project control and management software including Primavera P6, MS Project, and Project Sight. Strong operational knowledge of EPC delivery models, legal provisions affecting profitability, alignment with Yates core values, and advanced analytical problem-solving skills.
