The ideal candidate will have a strong skilled-trades or technical background, such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, controls, construction, or another related trade, and practical experience supporting building systems and facility operations. The Lead Facilities Technician will serve as a hands-on technical resource and provide day-to-day leadership to the Facilities Support team. This role will coordinate routine maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, vendor support, and facility-related requirements to ensure assigned facilities remain safe, reliable, operational, and well maintained. The successful candidate will use their trade experience and practical knowledge of building systems to identify issues, coordinate corrective actions, support facility improvements, and work closely with Building Engineers, Facilities Technicians, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and the customer. While the role may support renovation or construction activities as needed, the primary focus will be facility operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support.Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph (must be willing to upgrade)Key Responsibilities:Lead the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities for assigned facilitiesProvide technical guidance and hands-on support to Facilities Technicians and other members of the Facilities Support teamPlan, prioritize, and coordinate preventative maintenance activities to ensure timely completionRespond to facility issues and coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective maintenanceServe as a primary technical point of contact for building maintenance and facility-related issuesCoordinate with vendors, subcontractors, Building Engineers, and other technical resources as requiredMonitor facility conditions and identify potential maintenance, repair, or operational issues before they become larger problemsMaintain clear communication with building occupants and the customer regarding facility issues, maintenance activities, and potential disruptionsSupport the development of maintenance requirements, work orders, Statements of Work (SOWs), and vendor scopes as neededMaintain appropriate records of maintenance activities, repairs, expenditures, materials, and outstanding facility issuesSupport emergency response and facility-related issues as required, including after-hours emergenciesAssist with facility improvement, renovation, and construction activities when requiredFacilities Lead Duties:Support the operation and maintenance of building systems at assigned locations, including but not limited to:HVAC systemsElectrical and lighting systemsPower trades knowledge to troubleshoot building systems and identify appropriate corrective actionsCoordinate preventative maintenance workloads among Facilities Technicians, Building Engineers, and subcontractorsReview completed maintenance work to ensure quality, completeness, and compliance with established requirementsMonitor inventory of tools, supplies, spare parts, and materials needed to support facility operationsIdentify recurring equipment or facility issues and assist in developing recommendations for corrective actionAssist with developing maintenance schedules and tracking completion of required workCoordinate with the PMO and customer to communicate facility conditions, maintenance requirements, and emerging issuesProvide routine reporting on maintenance activities, facility issues, expenditures, and upcoming requirementsSupport the response to facility emergencies, including mechanical system faults, electrical issues, fire alarm activations, BMS issues, plumbing failures, and other building-related problemsProvide 24/7 emergency response support as required for assigned facilitiesFacility Improvement and Renovation Support:Provide technical and facilities support for minor renovations, facility improvements, and construction activities as requiredReview proposed facility modifications from a maintenance and operational perspectiveProvide practical input regarding maintainability, access, equipment, building systems, and long-term facility operationsCoordinate with contractors and subcontractors during facility improvement activities to help ensure work is completed according to established requirementsSupport project closeout by identifying outstanding facility-related issues and ensuring appropriate documentation is providedProvide technical input to larger renovation or construction projects managed by the PMO or designated project management personnelQualifications and Required Skills:Experience in a skilled trade, technical discipline, or facilities-related field, such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, controls, construction, or another related trade, is requiredDemonstrated hands-on experience working with building systems, facility maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or technical operationsExperience leading, coordinating, or mentoring other technicians or trades personnel is highly desirablePractical understanding of multiple building systems and their operation, maintenance, and troubleshootingAbility to diagnose facility issues, determine appropriate next steps, and coordinate the resources necessary to resolve themAbility to read and understand technical documentation, equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, and maintenance requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with customers, building occupants, technicians, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and vendorsAbility to prioritize multiple maintenance requirements and respond effectively to changing facility needsExperience with preventative maintenance programs, work order systems, inventory management, and facility documentationAbility to work independently while also functioning as part of a larger Facilities and PMO teamAbility to support facility emergencies and participate in an after-hours/on-call response as requiredAbility to work in a secure environment and comply with applicable facility, safety, security, and operational requirementsWorking knowledge of applicable building codes, safety requirements, and industry standardsAbility and willingness to develop additional knowledge of building systems and facility operations beyond the candidate's primary trade disciplineFamiliarity with ICD 705 and TEMPEST requirementsDesired Skills:Journeyman-level trade experience, trade certification, apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experienceExperience in commercial, industrial, government, mission-critical, or secure facilitiesExperience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS)Experience with preventative maintenance management systems or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Experience coordinating vendors and subcontractorsExperience supporting facility renovations, construction, or building improvement projectsFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Visio, or other technical drawing and documentation softwareSalary & BenefitsThe salary associated with this position ($99,000-$206,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise.
