Veterinary Large Animal Internship - Equine or Bovine

Veterinary Rotating Internship in Equine and/or Bovine Medicine After completing veterinary school, spend one year training in emergency & specialty care. This internship prepares you for additional specialty training or a general practice / ambulatory position. Internship Locations Equine ‑ Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, Snohomish, WA Bovine ‑ Elgin Veterinary Hospital, Elgin, TX (near Austin) Applicants must be eligible to obtain a veterinary license in the United States and be able to start by June 14, 2027. Additionally, candidates for the Washington location must obtain a Washington State license and hold a valid driver’s license. Equine Internship – Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital Rotating internship combining hospital and ambulatory work with mentorship from boarded surgeons, internists, and experienced veterinarians. Interns handle primary case responsibility under supervision, perform daily assessments, complete medical records, present in daily rounds, administer anesthesia, assist in surgery and medicine procedures, and participate in monthly journal club. Ambulatory service interns work on dental, lameness exams, reproductive work, podiatry, and other cases under veterinary direction. The facility offers two full surgical suites, a standing procedure room, a reference-quality laboratory, a lameness evaluation arena, patient stalls, ICU, NICU, and advanced imaging equipment including MRI. Bovine Internship – Elgin Large Animal Hospital The equine division focuses on orthopedic surgery, lameness, reproduction, and emergency/critical care, with a caseload of racing quarter horses and sports medicine. The bovine division serves the food animal industry, covering purebred cattle, commercial cow/calf, stocker, feedlot, bucking stock, and club calf production. Responsibilities Perform daily assessment and case management under senior clinician supervision. Maintain accurate medical records and present cases in daily rounds. Perform diagnostics, administer anesthesia, and assist in surgery and medicine procedures. Participate in monthly journal club and ambulatory service activities. Assist in clinical specialties such as dental, lameness, reproductive work, and podiatry. Qualifications Graduated from a veterinary college and eligible to obtain a U.S. veterinary license. Start date available by June 14, 2027. For Washington location: able to obtain Washington State license and hold a valid driver’s license.
