Back-End Dept Supervisor

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: Assigns team members to activities, ensures staff coverage meets customer demands, redeploys when necessary, participates in interviews, and provides input on selection decisions. Daily team interactions: Connects with the team, identifies challenges, elevates issues, and provides timely feedback and coaching to support development. Performance management: Provides recognition for accomplishments, fosters a growth environment, addresses associate‑relations concerns, and collaborates with ASM on formal disciplinary actions. Operational Excellence: Coaches the team to follow processes and achieve operational efficiencies, monitors and drives key performance metrics, and implements solutions to barriers and unexpected events. Safety & Security: Monitors use of store power equipment, maintains a focus on safety, security and shrink prevention, and conducts daily safety reviews. Continuous Operational Improvement: Recommends strategies to reduce waste and customer impact, seeks feedback, and builds collaborative relationships with cross‑functional partners. Responsibilities Specific to the Front‑End Department Supervisor Oversees and drives efficiencies in front‑end operational activities such as check‑outs, returns, overrides, till audits, PUIS Desk, and product staging for pickup. Drives customer service excellence by ensuring the front‑end support team greets customers, answers phones, and proactively addresses concerns. Manages headcount allocation in each register and administrative area, monitors Customer Service desk activity, and performs payroll closeout. Handles cash management responsibilities including research of shortages or overages, deposits, register pulls, and loans. Performs additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities Specific to the Back‑End and Night Operations Department Supervisor Oversees and drives efficiencies in back‑end operational activities (receiving, stocking, assembling, freight flow, delivery staging). Ensures that back‑end operations do not impact the customer or the customer’s ability to shop. Supports efficient product disbursement from receiving to sales departments and adheres to planograms for stocking. Manages safety and efficiency of delivery processes. Operates as the primary manager during overnight shift, often the only key manager in the building. Performs additional duties as assigned. Manager‑on‑Duty (MOD) Provides full leadership over the store, driving engagement, customer service, staffing, and operational efficiency. Walks the store, observes customer/associate interaction, and provides in‑the‑moment coaching. Ensures associates are prepared to deliver quality sales and service and that Specialty and Pro areas are properly staffed. Shifts associates based on traffic, manages call button responses, and validates aisles remain clean and safe. Hands off shift observations to the next MOD and directs non‑MOD activities to appropriate leaders. For Parcel stores, ensures accurate picking, proper preparation, packing, and shipping of Parcel orders using correct materials. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years of retail experience (or 5 years if education requirement is not met). Experience providing direction or supervision to teams. Experience supporting or participating in training, mentoring, and development of associates. Experience working cross‑functionally. Ability to obtain sales‑related licensure or registration as required. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting front‑end or back‑end operations in retail. Experience in a customer service role. Experience with direct report responsibility. Experience in the home improvement retail sector. Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic retail environment. Experience with store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client). Pay Range: $24.00 - $25.95 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors such as position, location, education, training, and/or experience.
