Job title: Transportation Attendant

This is a part-time position, 20-hours per week. 

Mentored by: Transportation Services Director Accountable to: Elders, Families, and Core Teams

Position Summary: The Transportation Attendant is responsible for assisting and accompanying St. John’s Authorized Drivers with providing excellent customer service to all residents, their guests, volunteers, St. John’s employees, to and from their appointments and/or events, safely, courteously and reliably. 

Qualifications & Education Required: 

· GED or High School Graduate

· Must be at least 21 years of age

· Wheelchair bus experience preferred but not required

Position Competencies:

· Provide outstanding customer service to all residents, guests, volunteers, and employees.

Position Responsibilities: 

· Help maintain clean vehicles. 

· Riding with Authorized drivers on company vehicles for transportation trips of residents, staff and any business-related trips.

· Assist with transportation of residents including residents with wheelchairs, walkers and other assistance devices.

· Use of wheelchairs lifts/ramps.

· Assisting and accompanying residents on trips and visits, including possibly staying with them through their appointments.

· Assist with and accompanying residents on group outings including but not limited to grocery runs, social recreation activities, etc.

· Relay any information that assists dispatch with daily schedules. 

· Attend scheduled staff meetings. 

· Some weekend and evening work may be required, may need to work other hours than normally assigned or after normal end shift, and/or may be assigned to another shift as needed. 

Physical Requirements: 

· Visual and auditory acuity, walking, climbing stairs, pushing wheelchairs, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and bending to secure wheelchairs. 

· Exposure to Conditions: 

· Driving outdoors in extreme weather
