We are looking for a part time Optometrist (2-3 days per week) to provide excellent care to our patients at our practice in Oceanside. The perfect candidate is a people person and enjoys connecting with their patients and staff team throughout the day and building long lasting relationships. The office is well equipped and well staffed with technicians to do full workups prior to examination. The schedule is typically booked with 2 patients an hour for a full day with 30-60 minute lunch.
We see a wide range of primary care patients ranging from 4 to 94 and beyond. A variety of refractive conditions and pathology are seen on a regular basis, so the ideal candidate must be ready to diagnose and treat when possible and refer when necessary.
Our practice is one of only a few in San Diego county with both IPL and Radiofrequency for treating MGD. We are looking for an OD who is passionate about treating dry eye even when treatments are out of pocket. No prior IPL experience is necessary, we are happy to train and support our doctor in mastering and utilizing this amazing technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform eye examinations, both routine and problem focused.
- Prescribe from the chair and perform excellent hand-off with optician to support high end optical sales.
- Prescribe medications when needed for various conditions such as glaucoma, eye infections, dry eye, etc.
- Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patients using EHR systems ( Eyefinity EPM and Eyefinity EHR)
- Comanage Lasik
Skills
- Ability to comfortably converse with patients and provide excellent 'chair-side' manner
- Confident in prescribing specific spectacle lenses and lens treatments from the exam room to ensure patients receive the ideal product.
- Able to easily complete two comprehensive eye exams per hour.
- Ability to perform an exam in Spanish is a plus
- Licensed to use therapeutics and treat glaucoma.
- Degree in Optometry, currently licensed in California
