Ready to launch your career in diesel maintenance but don't have the tools to get started? The Maintenance Technician Prep role at Paul Logistics is designed specifically for new graduates and entry-level mechanics looking to break into the industry.

This role provides hands-on experience in trailer and tractor maintenance while giving you access to a structured, rent-to-own tool program—so you can build your own professional toolset as you grow. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, develop core mechanical skills, and build a strong foundation for advancement into a Maintenance Technician I role.

You'll gain mentorship, technical training, and a clear path for growth in fleet maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with basic trailer and light tractor repairs under supervision
• Learn shop safety protocols, mechanical systems, and repair workflows
• Support senior technicians with diagnostics and repair tasks
• Utilize FleetRock software to complete digital Repair Orders (ROs)
• Accurately document time, parts usage, and repair notes
• Assist with parts inventory tracking and organization
• Participate in preventative maintenance and inspection processes
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Demonstrate consistent improvement in technical ability and efficiency
• Work collaboratively with the team to support shop productivity

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of experience in diesel, automotive, or trailer repair (or trade school completion)
• Strong desire to build a long-term career in fleet maintenance
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment
• Comfortable using tablets and shop software (training provided)
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Physically capable of working in a shop environment

Tool Program

Company-supported rent-to-own tool program. Tools are provided upfront so you can start immediately. Small payroll deduction applied toward tool ownership over time (minimum payment towards rent-to-own tool program $1/hr). Build your personal toolset while earning full-time income. Designed to support entry-level technicians coming out of school.
