The Opportunity

You will serve as a core technical leader at Hughes Sheet Metal, bringing quality craftsmanship to high-profile commercial, residential, and industrial HVAC projects. How You Will Make an Impact

• Execute on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of custom sheet metal systems across residential, commercial, industrial, and federal sites.
• Fabricate and assemble precise sheet metal components, ductwork, fittings, and hangers utilizing both shop machinery and hand tools.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and HVAC schematics to ensure precise system layout and routing.
• Troubleshoot on-site installation challenges independently while upholding high quality control standards to minimize rework.
• Mentor and guide field apprentices in proper fabrication techniques, installation methods, and on-site trade practices.
• Enforce rigorous OSHA standards, jobsite safety regulations, and personal protective equipment procedures at all times.
• Represent Hughes Sheet Metal professionally when coordinating with foremen, project teams, and general contractors on active jobsites.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Active Massachusetts Sheetmetal Workers Unrestricted Journeyman License.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and execute work directly from blueprints and HVAC mechanical drawings.
• High proficiency in custom sheet metal fabrication, layout techniques, ductwork assembly, and specialized hanger systems.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a focus on jobsite accuracy and clean craftsmanship.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of working hours to regional project sites.
• 5 or more years of hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and field installation.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior experience mentoring apprentices or serving as a field crew lead on commercial or industrial sites.
• Certifications in safety standards, including OSHA 10/30, Fall Protection, and Aerial Lift operation.
