Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit

Location: Portland, ME

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, including weekends (36 hours guaranteed weekly).

Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients with complex medical needs, including respiratory failure, sepsis, and other acute medical conditions. This position requires strong teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and support to patients in the Intermediate Care Unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpret telemetry strips, and manage tracheostomy care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in an Intermediate Care or similar unit.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Experience with ventilators and managing respiratory patients.
• Ability to float to other units as needed, including med/surg.
• Must possess a valid RN license in the state of Maine.
