Description The Sports Attendant will provide leadership to different age groups while promoting a high‑energy, fun and positive environment for program participants. You will be responsible for the planning of sports programs and supervision of different age groups in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA. Scope of Responsibilities Plan and implement sports/specialty programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA and coordinate activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate. Teach the fundamentals of sports/specialty program areas by understanding program participants’ age and skill level. Supervise a group of youth and/or adults to ensure their health and safety, and to provide a positive experience for each person. Communicate with and maintain a positive relationship with parents/guardians. Provide day‑to‑day guidance to staff and volunteers. Maintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code to all players. Ensure all equipment and gear is accounted for and maintained, notifying supervisor of equipment issues. Assist with development of special events and activities. Requirements Must be at least 16 years of age. Must have prior sports/specialty experience (e.g., playing, coaching). Comfortable working with multiple age groups. Experience in basketball, pickleball, and volleyball required; flag football, floor hockey, and soccer preferred. Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
