The Department of Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) in the Texas Medical Center seeks an accomplished Breast Surgeon and academic leader to serve as Section Chief of Breast Surgery within the Division of Surgical Oncology and Gastrointestinal Surgery and Medical Director of the Breast Program at the Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center (HMNCC).

This is an opportunity to lead a system-wide academic breast surgery program at Houston Methodist Hospital, which is ranked No. 19 in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. The successful candidate will be clinically based at HMH and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of breast specialists, including radiologists, pathologists, reconstructive surgeons, and medical and radiation oncologists.

The Section Chief/Medical Director will provide clinical, strategic, and academic leadership for the breast program, with responsibility for program development, quality improvement, multidisciplinary care, and education. Responsibilities include participation in breast tumor boards, teaching general surgery residents and medical students, and developing breast surgery curriculum and conferences. Shared, limited surgical oncology/breast surgery call coverage is available, if desired.

Qualified Candidates

Candidates should have significant surgical leadership and administrative experience and demonstrated expertise in the management of benign and malignant breast disease. Fellowship training in breast surgery and/or complex general surgical oncology and American Board of Surgery certification are preferred. Highly experienced breast surgeons without formal fellowship training will also be considered.

Houston Methodist offers protected academic time and institutional support for clinical research, clinical trials, education, and other scholarly pursuits , with academic appointments available through Houston Methodist and Weill Cornell Medicine.

Academic appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level.
