Mammography Technologist

Overview The Mammography Technologist performs mammographic procedures across all clinical sites, including the mobile mammography van, following the department procedure manual and ensuring high quality images while minimizing radiation exposure. This role is a .7 FTE, working a variable schedule Monday through Saturday. Responsibilities Information Processing & Image Review Manages electronic data, processes information for interpretation, reviews exams for proper positioning, technique, identification, and records required information. Transfers images to PACS, verifies action, reviews case, patient history, protocol, and prior images, using clinical judgment to ensure successful outcomes. Instruction Instructs radiology students and/or new staff according to clinical and department requirements, assists in orientation of department and hospital personnel with emphasis on radiation safety. Maintenance & Safety Checks Performs visual maintenance and quality control checks, records and reports results, identifies problems, communicates them to supervisors, and takes corrective action when necessary. Maintenance of Supplies Ensures adequate inventory of supplies, linens, and accessories. Exam Scheduling Coordinates and schedules examinations. Qualifications Required: Degree or program that provides eligibility to attain certification or licensure. Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification. Completed 8 hours of training in using a mammographic modality before beginning independent use. Certificates: If qualified before April 28, 1999, must be certified by ARRT, ACRRT, or be licensed to perform general radiographic procedures and completed 40 hours of mammography training. If qualified after April 28, 1999, must be certified by ARRT or ACRRT or hold a state license, completed 40 hours of mammography training, including breast anatomy and physiology, positioning, compression, QA/QC techniques, imaging of patients with breast implants, and completed 25 mammography examinations under supervision of an MQSA‑qualified individual. Will become registered at first eligibility if not registered. Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent). Renewal required every two years. Verbal, telephone, and written communication skills (clear, concise, professional). Ability to work independently, organize, and prioritize concurrent responsibilities. Ability to assess patients’ conditions and request assistance when necessary. Ability to assist in moving patients to and from wheelchairs, carts, and radiographic tables. Preferred: One year of mammography technologist experience. Proficiency in email and word processing systems. Experience with Electronic Medical Records. Pay & Benefits The hourly pay range for this position is $47.83 to $75.59, based on experience and qualifications.
