CoverMyMeds is seeking a skilled Senior Database Administrator to support and maintain enterprise PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of business‑critical database systems while partnering closely with application development, infrastructure, and support teams. The successful candidate will bring strong database administration expertise, a proactive approach to problem solving, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast‑paced environment. What You’ll Do Design, install, configure, maintain, and support PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases across on‑premises and Azure environments Monitor database health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning and optimization solutions to improve reliability and efficiency Develop, maintain, and validate backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data availability and business continuity Administer database security, including user access, permissions, auditing, and compliance with company security standards and regulatory requirements Implement and support high‑availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, replication technologies, and failover capabilities Troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues involving performance, connectivity, availability, corruption, and application integrations Partner with development teams to optimize database schemas, stored procedures, queries, and overall database design Develop and maintain database architecture documentation, operational procedures, and system standards Perform capacity planning and forecasting to support future growth and evolving business needs Participate in the on‑call rotation to provide support for critical database systems and production incidents Basic Requirements Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant, progressive database administration experience supporting production database environments Strong expertise administering PostgreSQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments Experience with database installation, configuration, performance tuning, security administration, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions Proficiency with PL/pgSQL and/or T‑SQL, including query tuning and optimization Experience troubleshooting complex database issues and implementing effective long‑term solutions Experience supporting databases hosted in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure Experience using automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell or Python Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with cross‑functional technical teams Preferred Skills / Experience Experience supporting additional relational database management systems such as Oracle or MySQL Familiarity with cloud database platforms and managed services, including Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, or Google AlloyDB Experience implementing database automation and operational efficiencies through scripting and tooling Exposure to database monitoring and observability solutions Experience supporting high‑availability and disaster recovery architectures in cloud and hybrid environments Experience working within healthcare or other regulated environments Eligibility / Immigration McKesson complies with all applicable U.S. immigration laws and regulations. Compensation and Benefits We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson’s pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long‑term incentive opportunities may be offered.
