Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with Level I Trauma experience for a hospital OR position requiring strong neuro and trauma skills.

Details

Hospital Surgical Services/OR department setting

Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

13-week assignment length

Neuro call requirement of 90-120 hours every 6 weeks

100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Uses Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System

Case types include Neuro Spine, Basic Craniotomy, VP Shunt, PV-RX AAA, Thrombectomies, Trauma (Spleen, Organ Donation, GSW, Thoracotomies), Urology (Cystos, Stent Placements), General, GYN, Laparoscopic, Basic ENT, Plastics, and Oral Max cases

Skills needed include ALIF, Anterior Cervical Fusion, Craniotomy, VP Shunt Insertion, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/Discectomy, Lumbar Fusion, and XLIF

Preferred vascular skills include AAA repair, Atherectomy, Carotid Endarterectomy, and Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft

Cerner charting preferred

Requirements

BLS and NBSTSA certification required

Minimum 2 years of experience required, with some flexibility for candidates exceptionally strong in neuro

Level I Trauma experience required within the last 1-3 years

Must rate 3s and 4s in Neuro and Trauma skill sets

Experience with instrument processing and reprocessing trauma instruments/trays required

Flap and scope experience preferred for ENT and Plastics cases

Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedure experience required

License required if applicable, and must be in hand prior to start date

SSN and DOB required for consideration

2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

Responsibilities include supporting a wide range of surgical specialties including Neuro, Trauma, Vascular, Urology, General, GYN, and ENT procedures

Perform instrument processing and reprocess trauma instruments and trays as needed

Floating is required to other units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility

Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved, with additional time requiring facility approval

Local candidates (Indiana residents) are accepted at a lower pay package

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler

Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents and 6 months for in-state residents
