Associate Ambulatory Clinical Analyst

Summary

Under the supervision of the Information Systems Clinical and Business Applications Manager, the Associate Ambulatory Clinical Analyst supports assigned Epic clinical applications and works closely with clinical, operational, and Information Technology teams to optimize healthcare technology and workflows.

The Associate Ambulatory Clinical Analyst analyzes clinical workflows, data, reporting requirements, and technical issues related to Epic applications. This position assists with designing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining Epic solutions that support Unity Health Care's operational and clinical needs.

The analyst provides Tier 1/2 application support, assists with system upgrades and enhancements, resolves end-user issues, develops and maintains system documentation, and collaborates with stakeholders to improve clinical workflows and patient care delivery. The position requires strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to translate clinical and business needs into effective technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support assigned Epic clinical applications, including EpicCare Ambulatory, Healthy Planet, Care Everywhere, EpicCare Link, Behavioral Health, Wisdom, Rover, and other Epic clinical applications as assigned.
• Create and maintain Epic templates, order sets, provider favorites, and other clinical system configurations.
• Provide Tier 1/2 support for Epic Ambulatory issues and escalate complex issues to senior analysts or appropriate resources.
• Analyze clinical workflows and identify opportunities to improve processes through technology.
• Perform system configuration, project development, implementation, workflow optimization, change management, and issue resolution.
• Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new Epic functionality.
• Stay current with new Epic functionality and version enhancements and test upgrades to ensure system functionality and stability.
• Resolve end-user application issues using Epic documentation and other available resources while ensuring business needs are addressed.
• Develop, review, and maintain test scripts to support workflow and system changes.
• Follow established IT change-control, governance, and ticket-management processes.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT teams to optimize workflows and system configurations.
• Work closely with user departments to ensure clinical processes and Epic functionality are effectively integrated.
• Communicate system changes, updates, and best practices to stakeholders.
• Support change-management and communication plans across assigned departments.
• Collaborate with trainers to provide ongoing education and support for effective use of Epic applications.
• Document workflows, processes, procedures, system configurations, and best practices for future reference and training.
• Apply technology and workflow best practices to improve quality of care, clinical service delivery, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.
• Manage multiple priorities and projects while responding effectively to changing business and end-user needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational and departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a clinical-related field combined with three (3) or more years of direct, relevant experience.
• At least two (2) years of experience working in a healthcare institution, preferably in an outpatient ambulatory setting, as a user of or application support staff for an Electronic Health Record (EHR) or clinically focused system.
• Current license or certification in a healthcare clinical profession, such as RN, LPN, Medical Assistant, Laboratory, or Radiology Technology, is preferred.
• Epic certification in job-related module(s) is preferred and must be obtained within six (6) months of hire and maintained as required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows preferred.
• Experience with clinical workflows and process improvement using clinical technology preferred.
• Experience working in a healthcare environment, particularly a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or safety-net healthcare setting, preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records, including Epic or other ambulatory applications, preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards preferred.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze data to identify trends and issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with clinical staff, IT professionals, vendors, leadership, and end users at all levels.
• Strong customer-service orientation and ability to maintain a positive and professional image.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and multiple competing priorities.
