Senior Application Consultant SAP APO Supply Chain Planning
1. Role Profile
This role is ideal for a senior & highly experienced SAP Supply Chain professional who can partner with business and IT teams to improve planning, order management, production scheduling, and supply chain execution processes. The consultant will act as a trusted subject matter expert, helping translate business needs into practical SAP solutions that improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and support Gerdau's digital transformation roadmap.
2. Core Responsibilities
Serve as the SAP Supply Chain subject matter expert for business stakeholders, project teams, and Digital IT partners.
Analyze business requirements, identify process improvement opportunities, and design SAP-enabled solutions that support operational efficiency and business agility.
Configure, enhance, and support SAP solutions across supply chain planning, order management, production planning, scheduling, and integration processes.
Lead or support SAP projects, enhancements, implementations, testing activities, training, documentation, and post-go-live support.
Develop functional specifications, test plans, test scripts, process documentation, and solution concepts for new or improved capabilities.
Partner with leadership and business process owners to build roadmaps, business cases, and solution recommendations for technology investments.
Collaborate with internal teams, external service providers, and AMS partners to deliver reliable support, enhancements, and project outcomes.
Monitor SAP product updates, emerging capabilities, and industry practices to recommend improvements and reduce technical debt.
Build strong relationships with business peers and promote adoption of digital solutions that simplify processes and create measurable value.
3. Technical Skills
Completed higher education degree (preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent)
Extensive experience with SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO), PPDS / ePPDS planning, heuristics, PDS usage, GATP / MPS concepts, and other Supply Chain-related tools
Deep knowledge of integrated Supply Chain processes, including planning, demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics
Experience in SAP S/4HANA implementations
Good experience with SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) (preferred)
Ability to work effectively in highly collaborative team environments
Knowledge of innovation methodologies and techniques (e.g., Design Thinking, Design Sprint)
Experience with requirements gathering practices and solving complex problems
Knowledge of key system development standards and digital product practices
Knowledge of architecture and solution design principles
Ability to understand existing planning logic & analyze differences between APO & S/4 behavior
Experience integrating SAP applications with external digital platforms, APIs, RFCs, BAPIs, SAP PI/PO, MuleSoft, NetWeaver architecture, and related integration tools.
Ability to create functional specifications, support data conversion activities, troubleshoot issues, and work with technical teams to understand custom ABAP code and SAP standard debugging.
Knowledge of Agile, project management, IT governance, application support, security, infrastructure, and innovation processes.
Experience working with AMS partners or third-party service providers to deliver support, enhancements, and project work.
