About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience: 2 years of ER experience required. Must have 1 year of travel experience. License: Must have a valid compact or state license. Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: EPIC charting experience is required. Travelers will be required to float between different units as needed. Experience with patient diagnoses such as sickle cell crisis, fever, abdominal pain, uncontrolled pain, anemia, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. Description: This is a unique unit that sees a variety of patients. Patients range from those with hematology and oncology issues to sickle cell conditions. Patients present with urgent and non-urgent conditions but are typically more stable than the emergency room population. Most patients will be discharged home, while some may require admission. Appointments are set based on calls received from patients’ primary teams or oncologists. Patients may be coming from different areas of the facility or from home. This is a smaller unit, encouraging strong relationships between staff members. The environment is supportive and allows nurses to develop numerous skills. Staff members build lasting relationships with patients in a less acute setting. Staffing includes a team of Advanced Practice Providers and Nurses. Emergency Department physicians supervise the Advanced Practice Providers and their patients. Compliance with credentialing and urgent processing is necessary. All candidates should be responsive and cooperative with credentialing requirements. Skills: Blood product administration Central line care/management Emergency medications General emergency department experience Interpretation of dysrhythmias Isolation precautions/PPE Management of dysrhythmias Obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG Phlebotomy Starting and maintaining IVs Triage
