Staff Accountant

Summary The Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Controller. This position will provide assistance with maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; prepare and analyze budgets; reconcile accounts; and perform general bookkeeping. Responsibilities A Staff Accountant at TRUNO will: Prepare and post monthly journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Analyze general ledger accounts and research variances. Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related accounting entries. Review and reconcile bank accounts and cash activity. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting as needed. Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting workpapers. Assist with inventory accounting, reconciliations, and analysis. Monitor prepaid expenses, accruals, and other recurring accounting transactions. Investigate fluctuations and identify trends impacting financial results. Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests. Assist with maintaining compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and company procedures. Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and testing. Document accounting procedures and maintain process documentation. Recommend solutions to improve accuracy, controls, and workflow effectiveness. Qualifications A Staff Accountant at TRUNO should have: Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or equivalent experience Experience Account Reconciliations Journal Entries Variance Analysis Familiarity with financial terms in business contracts Licenses & Certifications CPA a plus but not required Skills & Knowledge Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
