As a Patient Access Technician at Madison Health, you will be responsible for arranging for the efficient and orderly pre-registration of inpatients and pre-registration of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing or procedures. Ensure that patient information is collected and patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.

This is a 36 hour per week position with hours of Monday - Wednesday 12:30PM to 4:30PM and Saturday and Sunday 7AM - PM. Pay is $17.00 an hour.

Key responsibilities include:

• Interviewing patients or their representative to obtain personal information or verify information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information. Entering required demographic information into the computer database. Accepting reservations for direct admit patients. Obtaining signature from patient or representative for testing and/or treatment or admission.
• Providing patients all required notifications regarding patient rights. Initiating the Advance Directive process. Distributing Medicare IM Form and Medicaid Patient Rights Literature. Providing information to the patient regarding billing, visiting hours and hospital specific literature where warranted.
• Pre-registering patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures, verifying insurance information and making sure a complete order is secured.
• Consulting other departments as appropriate to provide information needed for patient safety and care. Answering incoming calls from departments to make necessary patient status changes in system. Distributing appropriate information to departments as warranted. Making sure chart copies are scanned for Medical Records and auditing.
• Collecting or making arrangements to collect co-payments and/or co-insurance due at time of service. Recording payments in computer database. Providing a receipt for payment to the patient and Finance Department. Referring patients to Customer Service when financial arrangements need to be made.

Required qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
