The Role: Labor Relations Manager

The Manager, Labor Relations is responsible for supporting PS’s labor relations strategy across the company’s operations. This role serves as a key partner to Operations, People, Employee Relations, and Legal, providing guidance on collective bargaining agreement administration, grievance management, labor-related investigations, union communications, and labor risk.

This role will help ensure consistent interpretation and application of labor agreements while supporting a high-performing, service-driven environment for PS team members and leaders. The right candidate is practical, steady, and able to balance operational needs, employee experience, and company risk in a fast-moving hospitality environment.

This role reports to the Vice President of People and plays a key part in supporting PS’s continued growth and operational excellence.

Work Environment

This role operates in both office and in our operational environments. The Manager, Labor Relations will be based out of our HQ and LAX property. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing business where priorities can shift quickly and labor matters may require timely response.

Physical Requirements

This role is generally sedentary but may require walking through properties or operational spaces, attending meetings across locations, and occasional lifting of standard office materials.

Travel

Travel to PS locations may be required based on business needs, labor activity, investigations, negotiations, or leader support.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Serve as the primary labor relations partner for unionized workgroups in operations.
• Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements, ensuring consistent application across departments, and operational leaders.
• Partner with Operations, People, Employee Relations, and Legal on labor-related matters, including contract interpretation, grievance strategy, investigations, disciplinary matters involving represented employees, and labor risk.
• Support workplace investigations involving union-represented team members in partnership with Employee Relations, including fact-finding, witness interviews, documentation review, findings, and recommendations consistent with company policy, applicable CBAs, and labor law.
• Manage grievance, mediation, arbitration, and settlement processes, including preparation of documentation, coordination with stakeholders, and recommended strategy.
• Support collective bargaining preparation and negotiations, including research, proposal development, data review, leadership alignment, and implementation planning.
• Provide practical guidance to property leaders and managers on labor obligations, union protocols, documentation standards, and consistent decision-making.
• Create and deliver labor relations training for leaders, including CBA administration, grievance handling, investigations involving represented employees, discipline documentation, and communication with union representatives.
• Track labor trends, recurring issues, grievances, and operational risks, using data and insights to recommend proactive solutions.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local labor laws, hospitality workforce practices, and PS policies.
• Build effective working relationships with union representatives while protecting the company’s operational needs, service standards, and business interests.
• Support implementation of new or revised labor agreements, including manager communication, policy alignment, scheduling practices, and operational readiness.
• Prepare labor relations summaries, briefing materials, recommendations, and updates for People leadership, Operations leadership, and executive stakeholders.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Hospitality Management, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of labor relations experience, preferably in hospitality, airport operations, transportation, food and beverage, facilities, or another labor-intensive service environment.
• Experience administering collective bargaining agreements and advising leaders on contract interpretation, grievances, investigations, and labor strategy.
• Experience leading or supporting workplace investigations involving represented employees.
• Strong working knowledge of labor relations practices, collective bargaining, grievance procedures, union communications, and applicable labor laws.
• Ability to support leaders in a complex, fast-paced, guest-facing environment where consistency, urgency, and service standards matter.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
• Ability to communicate clearly with leaders, employees, union representatives, legal partners, and executive stakeholders.
• Strong documentation, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend practical solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Flexibility to support urgent labor matters outside of standard business hours when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in luxury hospitality, aviation hospitality, hotels, airport services, food and beverage, or another premium service environment.
• Experience supporting operations with unionized workgroups.
• Experience participating in collective bargaining preparation, negotiations, or implementation.
• Experience with grievance mediation, arbitration preparation, or settlement discussions.
• Familiarity with California employment and labor practices.
• Experience partnering with Employee Relations, Legal, and Operations on investigations or labor-related corrective action matters.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to move work forward across multiple stakeholders.

Salary range $125,000 - $150,000/annually. This is a full-time Exempt role.
