Overview OB‑GYN Hospitalist Medical Director Sequoia Hospital | Redwood City, CA Responsibilities We are launching a brand‑new OB‑GYN Hospitalist program at Sequoia Hospital and are seeking an experienced OB‑GYN Hospitalist Medical Director to lead the development and long‑term success of this program. This is a rare opportunity to build a service line from the ground up while shaping clinical excellence, team culture, and operational strategy. You will partner closely with hospital leadership and Stanford‑affiliated specialists to ensure a high‑performing, collaborative, and patient‑centered service. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the OB‑GYN hospitalist team Lead program development, including workflows, protocols, and team culture Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and performance metrics Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and community OB/GYNs Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of hospitalist providers Ensure compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices Clinical Practice Highlights Schedule: 24‑hour, in‑house shifts Team Structure: 1 Medical Director + 4 OB‑GYN Hospitalists Scope of Practice: OB and GYN triage and surgery Labor & delivery management Obstetric and gynecologic emergencies Inpatient consults Clinical Environment Hospital Deliveries: about 1,200 births annually Level II NICU with Medical Director support from Stanford Maternal‑Fetal Medicine collaboration with Stanford specialists Team‑based care alongside experienced community OB/GYNs and nursing staff Qualifications What We’re Looking For Board‑certified OB‑GYN Active California license (or ability to obtain) Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience Prior leadership experience strongly preferred Passion for building programs, mentoring providers, and driving clinical excellence Strong collaboration and communication skills Benefits and Compensation Pay Range Based on Hours: Annual compensation is $296,400 – $416,100. Medical Director stipend is $25,000.
