Accountant English Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting, tax, payroll, banking, accounts receivable, and financial reporting functions supporting multiple companies and projects. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Experience in construction accounting and multi-state accounting is highly valued. Prepare and process state sales tax returns, including analyzing and determining sales tax obligations and responsibilities for multiple companies operating in multiple states. Prepare and file annual personal property tax returns. Manage company business licenses, renewals, and related business license obligations. Prepare weekly payroll taxes for payment. Prepare, reconcile, and file quarterly payroll tax returns for various company entities. Prepare and post various journal entries and cash activity to general ledgers and subledgers for weekly and annual transactions. Assist with annual audits, tax reporting, and other financial reporting requirements. Receive, review, and identify company payments for Accounts Receivable posting, including both electronic and physical payments. Prepare company bank deposits and assist with general banking activities and account management for multiple companies. Assist with the accounting implementation of new company projects and project setups. Process and coordinate fund transfers between company accounts as needed. Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
