Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future What to Expect The Operator Trainee, Lake Charles Refinery works to keep their assigned process unit/area operating safely and at specific production/run rates. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The anticipated start date for this class of Operators is October 2026. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. What You’ll Do Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety Maintaining equipment and operations Taking samples/readings of various process streams Operating unit consoles Monitoring and observing assigned area for abnormal conditions and emergency situations Working with outside contractors and agencies Participating in safety reviews Initiating work orders and permitting for work related to the assigned unit. Maintaining proper and safe process operations of the operating equipment Serving on the emergency response fire brigade, rescue team, and/or first responder team Participating in annual training refreshers Upholding company values, understanding and implementing all relevant company policies and procedures to ensure all work meets the required standard What You’ll Bring - Required Legally authorized to work in the job posting country 18 years of age or older High School Diploma or GED equivalent Must have a valid driver's license Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card TWIC). Once fully qualified, Outside Operator contract rate is $52.28 and fully qualified Console Operator contract rate is $53.52. The Lake Charles Refinery is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed in the southeastern and eastern United States by truck, rail car, barge or pipelines and exported to Latin America and West Africa.
