Senior Software Engineer

The BasicsAs a Tanium Senior Software Engineer, you will be tasked with building and maintaining best-of-breed products as part of a small and nimble development team. Tanium focuses on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying the products from the ground up, while continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input.This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA.What you’ll doBuilding and maintaining Tanium's products alongside a highly agile development teamFocusing on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginningDesigning, developing and testing new product ideas from the ground up while working with product management for feedback and inputWe’re looking for someone withEducationBachelor's degree or equivalent experienceCS Degree preferredExperienceMust be eligible for U.S. federal contract work; ability to obtain Canadian Reliability status (Protected B) is a plus, but not required5+ years industry experience, 7+ preferredExperience building large cloud-based data servicesKnowledge of at least one of Golang (preferred), C++, or RustExperience with PostgreSQLExperience with API design and developmentExperience with Azure or AWS Database ServicesExperience with cloud object storage, such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob StorageExperience designing memory-efficient streaming and multipart data-transfer systemsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools like git and CI/CD pipelinesOtherDemonstrates excellent judgment for balancing between rapid development, long-term code maintainability and supportabilityBelieves in the power of and the need for writing automated tests as part of developmentExperienced debugger who can put out fires under pressure when things go wrong in production environments and address the root causes of those fires for the futureHas knowledge of a variety of modern backend software frameworks and the versatility to learn new tools and languagesAbout TaniumTanium is the Autonomous IT company. What you’ll getThe annual base salary range for this full-time position is $191,000 to $293,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire.
