ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician

We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join a healthcare facility in the Southern United States region. This role involves expertly drawing blood samples from patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings for diagnostic and medical purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Perform blood collection using appropriate techniques tailored for infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
• Ensure all specimens are correctly labeled and suitable for the ordered tests.
• Promptly communicate critical or "panic" lab results to nursing staff following established protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation by dating reagents and supplies upon receipt and use, and regularly checking expiration dates to discard expired items.
• Utilize sharps containers properly to dispose of needles and syringes safely.
• Keep the laboratory collection area organized, clean, and well-stocked at all times.
• Adhere to safety standards to protect both patients and self during all procedures.
• Efficiently use laboratory equipment, supplies, and time to maximize productivity.
• Stay current with departmental updates and continuing education requirements.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is highly valued.

Requirements: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work compassionately with diverse patient populations.
