Acute Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (Part Time)

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. This role emphasizes specialized skill in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family needs through active listening and analysis of data obtained through direct observation and assessment.
• Create a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care.
• Set goals in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and health care team members.
• Promote and protect the health, safety, and rights of patients.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and implement changes based on Quality Improvement activities.
• Engage in self-evaluation of practice and identify areas for professional development.
• Teach patients/families about care and self-management after discharge from the hospital.
• Build mutual trust and respect among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain necessary competencies for specific patient populations.
• Establish a healing environment by making meaningful connections with patients and families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• One (1) Year Experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment

Schedule

This position is part-time, requiring two 12-hour shifts, with a rotational day/night schedule, including weekends and holidays.
