Manufacturing Buyer

Oxford Solutions is working with a small manufacturing company in Pittsburgh seeking a Manufacturing Buyer for a direct hire opportunity. This is an onsite role with flexible scheduling, including the option to work four 10-hour days.

Job Duties

• Manage purchasing for materials, services, equipment, non-inventory supplies, and other operational needs.
• Work with production to plan and prioritize purchasing activity to support customer orders and shop schedules.
• Create, manage, and close purchase orders while monitoring supplier acknowledgements, lead times, pricing, and delivery status.
• Follow up with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to keep orders moving and resolve questions or delays.
• Support production, quality, logistics, finance, and accounts payable with receiving issues, invoice discrepancies, returns, and vendor credits.
• Support facility, equipment, and process improvement projects as needed in a small-team manufacturing environment.

Requirements and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, planning, or a related supply chain role
• Experience buying for a machine shop, manufacturing company, or production-based environment
• ERP or MRP system experience required
• Strong communication and follow-up skills with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and negotiate with vendors
• Understanding of purchasing, inventory transactions, supplier lead times, cost, and delivery impact
