Carpenter PositionThe Carpenter performs designated tasks to ensure repairs to district property are completed in a professional manner.Job QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED preferredExperience: Minimum of 5 years of carpentry experiencePhysical ActivityAble to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs repetitivelyAble to walk, stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders or perform various types of manual laborMust have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform assigned tasksKnowledgeKnowledge of safety precautions to be taken when using carpentry hand and machine tools and equipmentKnowledge of methods, equipment and maintenance toolsAbility to use and maintain hand tools and woodworking machineryAbility to read, interpret and work from drawings and plansAbility to perform finish carpentry work, apply asphalt coatings and lay tileCommunicates effectively and promotes good public relations with all stakeholdersWorks with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when neededMust be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbalDuties and Responsibilities1. Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently2. Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in working with School Board members, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public3. Responsible for the repairs, construction, and inspection of all wooden, metal and masonry structures throughout the buildings of the school system4. Installs and repairs items such as, locks, windows, doors, steps, roofs and walls of all buildings5. Performs routine maintenance duties, minor painting projects, forms and pours concrete, and window glazing6. Constructs steps and railing, installs suspended ceilings, installs flooring7. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorSecurity Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.Work Days: 261Compensation Range: $40,478- $59,641*Salary is commensurate with experience and shift.
