Director of Procurement
The Director of Procurement provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for all institutional procurement, purchasing, contracting, and support service operations. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & CFO, this position is responsible for developing and implementing efficient, compliant, and cost-effective procurement programs that align with institutional goals. The Director ensures all procurement activities adhere to applicable federal, state, and system regulations while promoting transparency, competition, and fiscal responsibility. This role also fosters strong vendor relationships, drives continuous process improvement, and oversees staff development and training.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Procurement Strategy, Leadership, and Operations
- Contracting, Sourcing, and Purchasing Administration
- Policy Development, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Vendor Management and Financial Stewardship
- Systems Management, Training, and Stakeholder Support
Required education includes a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required experience includes ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Extensive knowledge of Texas procurement laws, regulations, and best practices
- Proficiency in procurement and financial systems software
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Strong analytical and financial management skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to develop and implement policies and strategic initiatives
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
