Nursing AssistantThe Nursing Assistant (NA) will care for Veterans/residents with acute to chronic conditions providing safe and individualized nursing care to patients in the Community Living Center (CLC) setting. The incumbent interacts, collaborates, and communicates effectively with the Veteran, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff both internal and external. The incumbent initiates appropriate actions based on his/her observations of the patient's condition. Provides a full range of NA care to patients with a variety of physical and psychological needs. All duties performed will be completed under close supervision with appropriate training and competencies for assigned task. Duties include, but are not limited to:Provides basic nursing care to Veterans/residents that have multiple complex medical and or emotional conditions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).Possesses the ability to observe, identify and respond to patient's needs for care including equipment to assisted with care.Demonstrates adherence to VA and Nursing policies/procedures and standards and maintains competencies consistent with role responsibilities.Assists staff by proactively identifying and addressing the Veteran/resident needs and readily recognizes the more subtle signs and symptoms of changes in the veteran's condition and takes appropriate action.Demonstrates skill/knowledge/ability to perform treatments, procedures and the use and reprocessing of reusable medical equipment appropriate to assigned duties.Reports pertinent, signs, symptoms, conditions, and behavior of patients to the RN/LPN/LVN/provider as deemed necessary by the Veterans/resident's condition.Accurately and timely records all patient data, and education into the medical records accurately and timely documents patient health status and findings.Use Electronic Health Record (EHR) based on Patient Care Services Documentation Policy requirements.Observes changes in resident's condition; report's findings based upon an understanding of the therapeutic regime, and documents observations and care given in the resident's electronic record.Reinforces resident/family/significant other teaching; supports residents with physical limitations during physical, psychological and/or emotional readjustment.Other duties as assigned.Work Schedule: 12 hour tours including weekdays, weekends and holidays. Tours determined by needs of service.Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Telework: Not Available.Virtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 517-26690-F, 517-26691-F, 517-26692-FPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.
