Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Unit

Location: Ottumwa, IA

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health Unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment skills and the ability to provide compassionate care to patients with mental health challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients within the Behavioral Health Unit.
• Monitor patient health status and administer medications as prescribed.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with an interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct patient assessments and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Document patient care activities in the electronic health record.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• MUST have Iowa SING background check clearance (Criminal and Child Abuse checks).
• All background checks must be fully cleared prior to start.
• Mandatory reporter certification required for both Child and Adult.
• 10-panel drug test including opiates.
• Current titers for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB within the last 12 months.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Behavioral Health Unit or Psychiatric nursing is required.
