Direct Care RN, Medical Oncology

Location and Shift Hampton, VA | First (Days) shift; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; 36 hours per week with rotating weekends. Overview Sentara CarePlex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Oncology Unit. This position offers a $15,000 sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance to qualified candidates. New graduates are welcomed and may be eligible for the 6‑month Nurse Residency Program, education assistance, and loan repayment programs. Responsibilities Assess, admit, and care for oncology patients. Conduct patient rounds and perform medication administration. Communicate with patients and family members about care plans. Provide comprehensive direct patient care across medical, hematology, and surgical oncology. Administer chemotherapy or biotherapy drugs (requires certification after 6 months). Manage pre‑ and post‑surgical care, hospice and palliative care, and sickle cell patients. Qualifications Valid Virginia or multi‑state license (Compact) in good standing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire. Education: RN associate’s, RN bachelor’s, RN diploma, or RN master’s degree. 6‑month nurse residency program available for new graduates ( Benefits Medical, dental, and vision plans.
