Position Overview

The Senior Mediation Director is a leadership position responsible for the strategic direction, integration, and quality of all mediation programming at Nashville Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC). This role provides direct supervision to the Civil Mediation Director, Family Mediation Director, and Mediation Intake Coordinator, and serves as the organization's lead relationship-holder with courts, court partners, community partners, and referral organizations across Middle Tennessee. The Senior Mediation Director reports to the Executive Director and works in close partnership with them to align mediation program strategy with NCRC's broader mission and Vision 2028 strategic plan.

NCRC is a nonprofit organization that helps people de-escalate and resolve conflicts in order to restore family, housing, and community stability. NCRC staff and trained volunteers currently mediate hundreds of cases per year across Family, Civil, and Restorative Justice program areas, allowing participants to shape collaborative resolutions and avoid further legal or disciplinary intervention. This form of restorative justice produces consensus-based plans through face-to-face dialogue.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include:

• Develop and lead an integrated strategy across NCRC's Family, Civil, and Restorative Justice mediation programs, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with grant and organizational goals.
• Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate the Civil Mediation Director, Family Mediation Director, and Mediation Intake Coordinator, and foster coordination and shared best practices across program teams.
• Serve as NCRC's primary point of contact and relationship lead with the courts, judges, courtroom clerks, court partners, community partners, and other referral organizations.
• Identify, cultivate, and formalize new referral and community partnerships that expand or strengthen NCRC's mediation caseload and reach.
• Oversee the intake and referral process across all three program areas in partnership with the Mediation Intake Coordinator, ensuring a consistent and responsive experience for referral partners and participants.
• Partner with the Executive Director and grants/administrative staff to ensure mediation program data, outcomes, and reporting meet all grant and funder requirements across Family, Civil, and Restorative/Victim Offender programs.
• Establish, monitor, and report on program-wide performance metrics, mediation volume, and quality standards to the Executive Director and Board as needed.
• Establish and uphold best practices in accordance with the mediation profession, Tennessee Rule 31 mediation, and community mediation standards across all programs.
• Lead cross-program training, workshops, and professional development for Program Directors, mediators, and volunteers.
• Represent NCRC at community events, conflict management trainings, and outreach efforts to advance the visibility and credibility of NCRC's mediation programs.
• Support the Executive Director in mediation-related fundraising efforts, including donor and funder communications about program strategy and impact.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• JD or equivalent advanced experience in mediation, conflict resolution, access to justice, or a related field; 5+ years of progressive mediation and/or program leadership experience, including staff supervision.
• Demonstrated commitment to restorative practices and ADR (alternative dispute resolution), with a strong working knowledge of Tennessee Rule 31 mediation and community mediation standards.
• Proven track record of building and sustaining relationships with courts, judges, court staff, and community or referral partners.
• Experience supervising and developing program-level staff, with the ability to coach, hold accountable, and align multiple teams around shared goals.
• Strategic thinker capable of developing and executing integrated, organization-wide program strategy.
• Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the acumen to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Sound judgment and discretion when evaluating problems and representing NCRC with clients, staff, community partners, courts, and volunteers.
• Analytical and adept with databases and reporting documents, including Salesforce, as well as technology including Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google, and DocuSign.
• Must pass fingerprint/background check to comply with grant and federal requirements.
• Rule 31 training or listing preferred.
• Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance; availability of a personal vehicle on a daily basis is required.

Salary and Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience ranging from $78,000-$84,000. Monthly healthcare stipend of $200 to offset healthcare costs. Two (2%) percent simple IRA employer contribution.
