Photo Etch Inspector

The Photo Etch Inspector verifies the quality of precision metal parts through visual inspection and dimensional measurements, removes parts from sheets, and prepares them for shipment in accordance with documented criteria and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow instructions on travelers and other company documentation to complete required inspection and processing tasks accurately.
• Complete company documentation correctly to record manufacturing lot information, measurements, and inspection results in a clear and traceable manner.
• Work under direct supervision and follow established instructions and techniques to process parts consistently and in compliance with quality standards.
• Inspect parts at a bench using a microscope to determine conformance with internal and customer inspection criteria.
• Use drop gauges and handheld micrometers to measure material thickness and verify dimensional requirements.
• Use handheld tools to form metal parts as required by the specification or traveler.
• Remove parts from sheets using scissors, clippers, or hand-powered cut-off tools, selecting the appropriate method based on part design and requirements.
• Package inspected parts for shipment in a way that maintains product integrity and meets customer and company packaging standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve inspection methods, processes, and workflows, and make recommendations that help reduce part costs and increase processing efficiency within the inspection department and the plant.
• Maintain organized work areas and documentation to support traceability, accuracy, and efficient workflow.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors in a fast-paced environment to meet production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing visual inspection of parts, including microscope-based inspection, to verify conformance to documented criteria.
• Hands-on experience using measurement tools such as drop gauges and handheld micrometers to verify material thickness and dimensions.
• Ability to accurately complete quality documentation, including recording measurements, lot information, and inspection results.
• Demonstrated quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Strong time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documentation, and parts efficiently.
• Problem-solving skills to identify nonconformances and recommend improvements to inspection processes.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to interpret instructions and document results clearly.
• Comfort using handheld tools, scissors, clippers, and hand-powered cut-off tools to process and separate parts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a precision manufacturing, medical device, aerospace, or electronics-related environment is beneficial.
• Familiarity with formal quality control or quality assurance systems and documentation practices.
• Comfort working under direct supervision while following established procedures and techniques.
• Interest in continuous improvement and contributing ideas to enhance inspection efficiency and reduce costs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
